Hooda honours 159 young achievers of Haryana

CHANDIGARH, SEPT 9
Haryana Chief Minister  Bhupinder Singh Hooda today honoured  as many as 159 young achievers of the State who have succeed in Civil Services Examinations and other  all India competitive examinations held during the year 2013-14 in the Haryana Pratibha Samman Samaroh – 2014 organized at Panchkula  today.
          The programme was organized to honour those brilliant and meritorious students from Haryana, who have brought laurels to the State with their outstanding performance in All India Services and other examinations held in the year 2013-14.
          Mr. Hooda honoured as many as 77 students who have succeed in the examination of Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and allied services. Apart from this, he also honoured 41 candidates who have succeeded in JEE and Engineering Examinations, 15 toppers of class XIIth (all streams), three toppers of class Xth, nine candidates who have qualified All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), three toppers of All India Medical Science (AIMS), three winners of International Science Olympiad and eight of other services. On this occasion, Mr. Hooda gave away certificates and cash awards to the awardees .
          Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hooda congratulated the awardees and said that it was a matter of pride that though the State accounts for two per cent population of the country yet 8 per cent of its students have cleared various competitive examinations this year be it the Civil Services Examinations and other Examinations of engineering, defence, medical etc. He said that Haryana is the first State where the talents were honoured in this way so that the coming generation could take inspiration from them. He said the State Government has now expanded the scope of Haryana Pratibha Samman Samaroh and decided to honour the achievers of various competitive examinations like MBBS, AIMS, CAT, GATE, AIIMS (PMT), CBSE, ICSE, Haryana School Education Board etc whereas earlier, only this programme was limited to Civil Services.  He said that it was a matter of pride that the Chief of Army Staff also hails from Haryana. Moreover, every 10thsoldier in the armed forces is also from Haryana.
           Mr. Hooda hoped that wherever they go (awardees), they would bring laurels to the State and the Country and serve the people with utmost honesty and dedication.
          Mr. Hooda said that today the world is shrinking and the real race is in the field of education. While referring the 21st century as an era of knowledge, Mr. Hooda said that only those society, state or country make progress which would lead in education. He said that when he assumed the administration of the State in the year 2005 he had set a vision to make Haryana a education hub and it was a matter of pride that in the coming 5-7 years, the State is going to emerge as a education hub of international level.
He also listed various educational institutes set up or being set up in the State right from Panchkula to Mewat. He said that National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is coming up in Panchkula and the State Government has given Rs 100 crore for the setting up of this institute in addition to land worth of Rs. 100 crore.
The Chief Minister said that during the last nine-and-a-half years, the State has made tremendous progress in every field. The State which is at number 14th in the year 2005 has no reached to number one position. Similarly, the State is also leading in other parameters of development like per capita income, per capita investment, resource mobilization and per capita expenditure on planned budget. Besides education, the sports person of Haryana has also brought laurels to the State and the country with their outstanding performance in national and international level. He said that in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Haryana has won 22 medals out of the total 64 medals won by the country. He said that the neighboring Countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka altogether could not even won medals as won by Haryana alone.
          Speaking on this occasion Haryana Education Minister Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal congratulated the awardees on their achievement and urged them to make their significant contribution in building a strong nation. She said that it was the result of the farsighted approach of Mr. Hooda that the State Government has decided to organize the Pratibha Samman Samaroh to honour the achievers of the State.
Haryana Chief Secretary Mrs. Shakuntla Jakhu and Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Mr. S.S Prasad also spoke on this occasion.
MLA Panchkula Mr D.K. Bansal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister namely Mr. SS Dhillon and Dr. K.K Khandelwal, Principal OSD Mr. M.S Chopra, Director General Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Prof Virender Singh, Deputy Commissioner Dr. SS Phoolia, DCP Mr. Rahul Sharma and other senior officers of various departments and awardees and their family members were also present on this occasion.
