Assistant Engineers of State Power Utilities to be appointed on GATE Exams scores

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 28
The Haryana Government has decided to take out 133 posts of Assistant Engineers (Electrical) and eight posts of Assistant Engineers (Civil) in all four State Power Utilities from the purview of Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) and further fill these posts on the basis of score obtained in the GATE Examination only and without conducting any interview.
          A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the State Cabinet held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal here today.
          The four Power Utilities included Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited and Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited.
          Public notices will be issued in all leading newspapers conveying to the prospective candidates that the recruitment of Assistant Engineers (Electrical) and Assistant Engineers (Civil) in Haryana Power Utilities will take place on the basis of the marks obtained in the GATE Examination to be held in early 2017 by the IIT Roorkee. It will also be conveyed that all those eligible persons who are desirous of being considered for recruitment as Assistant Engineers should appear in the GATE Examination 2017 for which IIT Roorkee would issue its advertisement in the month of August 2016. This notice will also be hosted on website of the Haryana Power Utilities. The eligibility conditions for recruitment as Assistant Engineers as well as the reservation policy of the State in this regard will also be duly notified in the advertisement.
          The results of the GATE examination are likely to be published in March, 2017. An advertisement will be issued by Haryana Power Utilities in April, 2017 that those persons who wish to be considered for recruitment as Assistant Engineer in Haryana Power Utilities should apply along with their GATE score. After the last date of the receipt of applications, the merit list will be prepared strictly in accordance with the GATE score obtained by the candidate. The candidates higher in the merit equivalent to the vacancies will be offered appointment letter. There will be no interview.
          A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed with IIT Roorkee before August 2016 for using the facility of using GATE score for recruitment as Assistant Engineers in Power Utilities. The requisite fee as prescribed by the IIT Roorkee will be paid along with signing of the MoU by the Power Utilities. Waiting list equivalent to 10 per cent of the posts advertised will be prepared. The persons on the waiting list will be offered appointment only if the person from the main list do not join. The waiting list would be valid for one year. This procedure will be followed for recruitment of Assistant Engineers henceforth by all the Haryana Power Utilities.
