Yoga gets international rocognition

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 21
Union Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Harsh Vardhan said that India has given to the world a precious gift of yoga. Dr Harsh Vardhan was speaking in a programme organised on the occasion of International Yoga Day at Rohtak today where more than 5,000 persons performed yoga.
          Dr Harsh Vardhan said that the idea of an International Day of Yoga was although first proposed by Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, on September 27, 2014 and on December 11,2014, 193 countries declared to celebrate June 21 as International Yoga Day. He said that with the efforts of the Prime Minister, this period has been written in letters of gold for coming generations.
          He said that during last year, first International Yoga Day was organised at India Gate, New Delhi and the event was registered in Guinness Book of World Record. Referring to enthusiasm in other countries for yoga, he said that during his recent visit to the USA and England, he observed that there was great zeal among the people in preparations for the celebration of International Yoga Day.
          He said that Baba Ramdev has not only taken yoga to every individual but has also made it a part of their routine.
          While speaking on the occasion,  Haryana Agriculture Minister Mr O. P. Dhankar said that yoga is such an activity which   gives its benefit  every day. One should adopt yoga   and  practice it in routine. He said that yoga not only gives physical and mental benefit, but also enhances one’s personality.    He said that with the efforts of Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, yoga has got international recognition. Yoga liberates one from negative energy, he added.
YOGA FOR ANGANWADI EMPLOYEES: The Haryana Government has decided to introduce yoga in the curriculum of Anganwadi Centres and provide yoga training to Anganwadi employees and helpers.
        While stating this today, Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs. Kavita Jain, said that approval to this effect has been given by Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal.
        Greeting the people on the occasion of ‘International Yoga Day’, the Minister said that under Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi’s ‘Swasth Bharat, Sashakt Bharat’ initiative, children aged between three and six years and expectant mothers would be taught yoga exercises. The curriculum would be prepared jointly by Women and Child Development and AYUSH Departments, she added.
