CHANDIGARH, Nov 21
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, today announced that artistes who are recipients of the State Award would be provided facility of free travel in Haryana Roadways buses in the State.
The Chief Minister was speaking at Haryana State Day function in India International Trade Fair-2016 being organised at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. He was accompanied by Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, and Chief Secretary, Mr. D.S. Dhesi.
Reiterating the State Government's commitment towards promoting art and culture in the State, he said that several initiatives were being taken through the Haryana Kala Parishad to provide training and other facilities and opportunities to the artistes, especially in villages, and enhance their talent.
He said that the IITF-2016 provided a platform for 'Bharat darshan' to the visitors by showcasing the industrial products and art and culture of different states at a single venue. He said that the trade fair instilled the spirit of national unity besides encouraging competition amongst the states.
Expressing pride over Haryana being invited as the focus state of the IITF-2016, he said that under the 'Digital India' initiative, which was the theme of the trade fair, the Haryana Government has taken several unique initiatives to facilitate the people. These included e-Services such as e-Registration, Aadhar-based services and 117 e-Services being provided through Gram Sachivalayas established in the villages. The number of these services would soon be increased. Apart from this, biometric system has been introduced for recording attendance in government offices and rooting out ineligible beneficiaries under the Public Distribution System. This has brought in transparency in the system and reduced corruption.
Describing the initiatives taken by the Haryana Government to bring in transparency and end corruption as 'small hammers', he said that the decision taken by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, to demonetize high-denomination currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 was a 'big hammer' that has led to realisation that corruption would not be tolerated in this country. He said that many politicians would be affected by this move, as they do not have a good image. However, honest people are now entering politics with the determination to serve the people.
He said that the initiatives taken by the present government have borne positive results, with the society becoming more aware about various issues. He said that sex ratio in the State had increased from 837 girls per 1,000 boys at the time of the launch of 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' programme last year to the average sex ratio of 924 girls per 1,000 boys last month. After the target of 950 girls per 1,000 boys is achieved, social evils will not flourish in the State. He said that the Government was also focusing on cleanliness and sanitation in the State and was working towards making Haryana kerosene-free by March, 2017.
Those present on the occasion included Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Jagdish Chopra, Principal Resident Commissioner, Mr. Anand Mohan Sharan, and other senior officers and prominent personalities.
