PREVENTING ROAD ACCIDENTS: In a bid to prevent road accidents, Haryana Police have come up with an innovative idea to paint the  back side of slow moving, stranded or illegally parked vehicles on highways  with fluorescent colors to prevent road accidents. To begin with, this drive has already been started in district Panipat of Karnal Range.
While stating this here today, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Mr Navdeep Singh Virk said that a number of accidents occur between vehicles on highways especially in the night due to lack of reflectors on such vehicles which resulted in loss of precious human lives.  The fluorescent painting on rear side of vehicles would be helpful in minimizing the risks of accidents at night as it alert and cautious commuters about the presence of vehicle ahead.
“We are getting rear of such vehicles painted with fluorescent colors in Panipat under the supervision of IG Karnal Range. Districts Karnal and Kaithal would be covered shortly and later on, it would be replicated in other Ranges in collaboration with Traffic and Highways Police”, added Mr Virk.
He said that Police will also launch a special drive to drill safety triangle reflectors on rear of vehicles in Panipat and Karnal districts to cut down the incidents related to fatal road accidents on highways. Road mishaps on highways could be avoided and precious lives saved if commuters follow traffic rules and keep reflectors in a good shape, he added.
He said that as a result of our sustained efforts, the road fatalities have been declined by 6.7 percent in first four months of current year in the state. We aim to further bring down this figure in the days to come, he further added.
