The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that the responsibility for implementing the Swaminathan Commission report rested with the former Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was then chairman of the working group of Chief Ministers on agriculture production, but he didn’t do anything during and kept pretending to be a leader of the farmers.
Interacting with the villagers of Munak in Karnal district today, he said his government had worked for the farmers during the last three-and-a-half years.
“The self-claimed farmers’ leader never thought of doubling the income of farmers. On the other hand, we have implemented Bhwantar Yojana to save the farmers from damage to their crops, and told them ghaata sarkar ka fayda kisan ka (under the scheme all loss would be of the state government and all profit would be of farmers,” he added.
He said the Fasal Bima Yojana implemented by the present government had benefitted thousands of farmers. Farmers were given compensation at the rate of Rs 12,000 per acre for the loss of crops due to natural calamities. Now, it is for the people to decide which government is farmers’ friendly, he added.
On the Jail Bharo Aandolan call for which had been given by an Opposition party, he said the party was raising the waters issue just to register its presence. During their regime they never remembered SYL Canal. He urged the public not to fall into the trap of such political leaders as fooled them for their own political interests.
The Chief Minister announced a bonanza of development works worth crores of rupees for Munak village. These include 24-hour power supply, a police station, primary health centre, construction of sub-yard in anaj mandi, and providing full staff at school.
Mr Manohar Lal said the state government would complete all development works which had been announced. Money provided for such works should be spent appropriately and with caution. Strict action would be taken against anyone involved in embezzlement of government funds.
He also announced Rs 15 lakh for the construction of langar hall in three gurudwaras, Rs 5 lakh for the construction of chaupal, road from Sataundi to village Picholiya, and Rs 5 lakh for Kashyap Chaupal in village Kutana. He also announced that vyayamshalas would be built in the villages of Kutana, Balla, Pardhana and Mor Majra.
Mr Manohar Lal said he had asked Assandh MLA, Mr Bakshish Singh Virk, to hold a small program to meet party workers, but the massive gathering at Munak only proved that the people were happy with working of the present government.
Detailing the achievements of his government during the last three-and-a half years, he said work on development works on 14 projects worth crores was apace in village Munak.
The development works included sports stadium in Munak at the cost of Rs 77 lakh, establishment of BDPO office and building, construction of Anganwadi centre, developing of pond into five pond system, regional chaupal, general chuapal and Gadhariya chaupal, and work on streets and drains at the cost of lakhs of rupees.
“Our first duty is to serve the public. There has been equitable regional development in the state. We are keeping our promise made during the elections, So far, the state government has made 3,700 announcements out of which work on 3,200 announcements is apace and most of them have been completed”, he added.
MLA, Mr Bakhshish Singh Virk, said in the last three-and-a half years of the present government, the picture of Assandh had completely transformed and the credit went to the Chief Minister. Under the leadership of Mr Manohar Lal, Assandh and Jundla got a government college each, bypass at the cost of Rs 86.26 crore has been constructed in Assandh, Anaj Mandi has been expanded at the cost of Rs 40 crore, sub-depot of roadways opened at the cost of Rs 5 crore, PWD rest house built at the cost of Rs 3.57 crore, old bypass repaired at the cost of Rs 2.5 crore and the pond at Assandh developed into five-pond system at the cost of Rs 2.5 crore.
