Modernizing State police aims at checking drugs, trafficking and criminal problems

CHANDIGARH, NOV 19 
 Haryana Home Minister  Anil Vij said that the modernization of the State police will be done so that the problem of drugs, trafficking, and other criminal activities can be resolved in a stipulated time period ensuring timely justices to the victims. 
Mr. Vij said this while interacting with the media in a press conference held here today. The press conference was held after the Home Minister presided over the first review meeting of the Police Department at Panchkula Police Headquarters.
 Mr. Vij said that after this review meeting, the State people will certainly see a change in the working of the police department. He said that though he is satisfied with the working of the State police, the police force and mobile forensic unit will be equipped with modern equipment to improve law and order situation in the State.  He said that this will help the police officials to investigate criminal activities in a modern way and further will help in ensuring punishment for criminals.
The Home Minister said that the police the department should ensure the timely disposal of public grievances, or else strict action will be taken against the police personnel who will delay in resolving the grievances.  He said that for this, a grievance redressal cell has been set up at the State level, which is handling such complaints at the headquarters level.
The Home Minister said that an intelligence system will be set up to make Haryana a drug-free state and directions are given to immediately curb criminal activities like drugs, illegal liquor, and gambling, betting, and extortion.  He said that no criminal will be allowed roam freely in the state and in this regard, an operational strike will begin in the next 24 hours. He said that a Police Welfare Committee would be constituted for the welfare of police personnel, who would take appropriate action on all problems and demands related to police personnel.
Mr. Vij said that all the police stations in the State will be renovated, for that budget allocation from  the government will be taken. Apart from this, residential sites will be built around the cities for police personnel so that police employees do not have to go far to meet the education and other needs of their children. 
Mr. Vij further directed the officers to issue directions to all police station in-charge of the State for proper parking of vehicles, in which they will have to make proper arrangements for auto-rickshaws, buses, trains and other private vehicles in their police station area.
The Home Minister said that the Dial 100 will go centralized, which will be operated from Panchkula headquarters.  He said that soon 2-2 vehicles each will be made available in every police station of the State for the convenience of the public and to ensure that the police can live up to the expectations of the people. Apart from this, the process of resolving the pending cases will speed up and for this, training will also be provided to police personnel and officers. With this, strict action will be taken against the officer concerned if complaints are not disposed of timely, the Home Minister added. 
On this occasion, the Home Minister was given a guard of honor upon reaching the police headquarters. Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Mrs. Navraj Sandhu, Director General of Police Mr. Manoj Yadav welcomed the Home Minister at the meeting. 
Director-General of Police Mr. PK Aggarwal, Additional Director General CID Mr. Anil Rao and other senior officers of the police department gave the presentation of their respective branches.
