Hooda urges workers to supplement efforts of Govt

The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda has urged the working class to supplement the efforts of State Government in increasing the industrial productivity which will lead to economic progress and prosperity of the state.

         Extended his warm and good wishes to the labourer community on the eve of May Day, the Chief Minister called upon them to celebrate the May Day as a day of commitment.  He said that labour productivity and the efficiency of the working people was a good sign in the development of the industrial sector.

He said that as a result of emerging competitiveness due to economic liberalisation, globalisation and Multinational Companies, they would have to accept new challenges in the changing scenario and improve quality and techniques. Also, they would have to enhance their cooperation with the managements as that would lead to economic progress of the State. 

          While crediting the labourers for peaceful and cordial industrial relations in the State, Mr Hooda said the State government was committed to secure the interest of farmers, labourers and workers. He said that today, Haryana was one of the leading States of the country where the labourers were being paid the highest minimum wages which have been increased to Rs 5212.15. Mr. Hooda said that the industrial atmosphere in the State had been peaceful and both entrepreneurs and labourers have good relations, the credit of which goes both to the policies of the State Government and to the hardworking labourers.

          Haryana Labour and Employment Minister, Pt. Shiv Charan Lal Sharma said that a number of schemes were being implemented for labourers engaged in unorganized sector of industrial and construction of buildings. A financial assistance of Rs 51,000 was being given on the marriage of daughters of workers and a scholarships ranging from Rs 4000 to Rs 16,000 were also being given to the children of workers. In case of accident, a financial assistance ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 is being given and in case of death of industrial worker, a financial assistance of Rs one lakh is given to their widows or dependents. Also, a bicycle is given free of cost to industrial workers getting wages of upto Rs 10,000 per month and to avail the benefit of other schemes the income limit has also been increased from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000.

          He said that new schemes have been started for providing free sewing machine to the self dependent women labourer and for giving LTC to the workers getting monthly wages upto Rs. 10,000. The purpose of launching these schemes was to cover the maximum number of labourers under the beneficial schemes of the Government.
