Special flood relief squads formed

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 25
As a part of the measures to save life and property from floods, if any,  Haryana Government has decided to constitute Special Flood Relief Squads at district level to tackle natural calamities and save people from floods.
          Haryana Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management  Department, Mr. Krishna Mohan said this at the closing ceremony of a relief training camp organized at Brahma Sarovar, Kurukshetra today.
          He said that these squads would include police personnel, home guards and trained officials of other departments. He said that such training camps were being organized at Brahma Sarovar, Kurukshetra for the last several years. In these camps, employees of various departments, especially of Revenue Department are imparted training. He said that a vigilant eye should be kept on rumor mongers during the floods and no heed should be paid to rumors. Also, priority should be given to the rescue operations.
          Trainers from Rewari bagged the overall trophy for exhibiting outstanding performance at the training camp. In boat competition, Hardeep Singh of Ambala got first position whereas Rajesh from Kaithal and Anuj Kumar from Karnal got second and third positions respectively. Similarly, in swimming competition Sandeep from Rewari, Jogender from Mahendergarh and Sandeep from Kaithal bagged first, second and third positions respectively. For gathering household items and making efforts to rescue people from floods, Sandeep from Kaithal got first prize whereas Kuldeep from Fatehabad and Manoj from Rewari got second and third prize respectively.
        In first aid competition, Naveen Lathwal from Panipat stood first and Madhukar from Rewari and Vijender Singh from Kurukshetra stood second and third respectively. The coaches who imparted training during the camp were also honoured with prizes.
        On this occasion, officers of the District Administration were also present.
