All Haryana courts to be made air-conditioned

CHANDIGARH, JULY 19
Mr Justice S K Mittal, Chairman of the Building Committee, Punjab and Haryana High Court, said here today that all courts in Haryana would be made air-conditioned up to January, 2015. There are model courts in 20 districts of the state and soon a complex of 60 courts would be set up at the cost of Rs 60 crore in Gurgaon district.
Mr. Mittal was addressing the gathering after inaugurating an overbridge built at the cost of Rs 90 lakh in the Judicial Complex, Karnal, today. With the construction of this overbridge, advocates
would directly reach the courts from their chambers.
He said that modern buildings had been constructed in 49 courts of 21 districts of the state, including 28 sub-divisional courts. The courts in Haryana have modern buildings and there is no
shortage of infrastructure in the state. Hence, modern courts would also be set up in Kalka and Pataudi sub-divisions.
Mr Mittal said that the chambers of advocates had been constructed at sub-divisional and district level, and more chambers, if required, would be constructed. Similarly, the residential colonies for judges are also being made modern.
It is a matter of concern that the number of cases in courts  is increasing by the day. While the judges dispose off 6.10 lakh cases every year, about one lakh more cases come to the courts, Mr Mittal said. There are 499 judicial officers in the state for timely disposal of cases, yet the cases are not being disposed off on time, he added.
