Separate SGPC for Haryana report submitted

CHANDIGARH, JULY 1
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that the committee constituted under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Harmohinder Singh Chattha on the issue separate Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee (SGPC)  for Haryana    has submitted its report in favour of separate SGPC  for Haryana  and the Government would take decision in view the larger interest of Sikhs of the State.
Mr. Hooda, who was addressing a press conference after presiding over a meeting of Congress MPs, MLAs, Ex MLAs and other office bearers here today was asked to comment on the formation of separate SGPC for Haryana. He  said that the report was being legally examined.
          When Mr. Hooda’s attention was drawn towards the statement made by the SGPC that it would take legal action against the Hooda Government, Mr. Hooda said that same law applies to all and added that as far as separate SGPC for Haryana is concerned, his government would take decision which would in the interest of Sikhs of Haryana.
          In reply to a question, Mr. Hooda said that that the Monsoon Session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha would be held after the Union Budget to be presented on July 10, 2014.
          In reply to another question, Mr. Hooda said that one of his party colleagues is demanding 30 seats for ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections. ‘I am even ready to give all 90 seats to anyone from the party provided that they all are winnable candidates.
          On asked about differences in the party, Mr. Hooda denied such allegations saying that Congress being a democratic party, there might be difference of opinion among the individuals.
          When asked about his expectations from the Union Budget to be presented on July 10, Mr. Hooda said that on the basis of decision so far taken by the BJP Government, he could really predict that the budget would be anti-farmer and anti-people. The price of manure would go up and the poor and farmer would be severely hit by inflation.
          In reply to yet another question that the BJP has held Congress responsible for the recent hike in Railway passenger fare, Mr. Hooda said that if they had to adopt the policies of Congress, they should have let Congress to remain in power. No government is bound to follow the polices of another, added Mr. Hooda. He  said that the previous Lok Sabha elections were fought not on the policies of BJP but by projecting a particular individual. Before presenting the Budget, the Central Government has increased the prices of essential commodities like sugar, diesel, petrol, railway passenger fare and today it has increased the prices of LPG cylinder. The hike of 14 per cent in the Railway passenger fare is the highest one time increase ever made by any government post independence, he added.
          Mr. Hooda said that Food Security Act as implemented by the UPA Government has proved as a respite for the poor. As many as 1.26 lakh people in Haryana were getting rice and wheat at the rate of Rs three and Rs two respectively under the Act. Apart from this State Government is providing 2.5 kg Dal to 12.84 lakh BPL families at a rate of Rs. 20 per kg.
On being asked to comment whether Congress could be an option for the people in the prevailing circumstances in the country, Mr.  Hooda replied that Congress has always been in the heart of people as it is  a policy based party.   Mr. Hooda said that he had heard Mr. Modi’s speech during the Lok Sabaha Elections in which Mr. Modi said that the scale of development of any state could be gauged by its per capita income. Mr. Modi mentioned that the per capita income of Uttar Pradesh is Rs 33,000 whereas it is Rs 75,000 in Gujarat which is almost double than that of Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Hooda said that the per capita income in Haryana is Rs 1.35 lakh. This proves that Haryana is ahead of Gujarat in terms of development.
          In reply to a question, General Secretary, All India Congress Committee and In-charge of party affairs in Haryana Mr. Shakeel Ahmed made it clear that as of now no proposal is under consideration of the party regarding change at Party President and leader of the Legislative Party in the State.
          When asked to comment on the absence of certain senior Congress leaders from today’s meeting, Mr. Ahmed said that Rajya Sabha MP Ch. Birender Singh had expressed his inability to attend the meeting on phone due to his prior engagements whereas, MP Rajya Sabha kumari Selja had gone abroad and she had also informed him about her visit.
                   When asked to comment on the party’s  stand on the statement made by Rajya Sabha MP Ch. Birender Singh against Mr. Hooda, Mr. Ahmed said that all this is in the notice of the party and the matter would soon be sorted out.
Speaking on the occasion, President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Mr. Ashok Tanwar said that in the today’s meeting the performance of the district level workers meetings held throughout the State from June 5 to June 28 has been reviewed. He said that now the party has chalked out a programme to organize segment wise meetings in the State from July 5. Apart from the public meetings, rallies and functions of social organizations would also be organized during the period.
Mr. Tanwar said that those candidate who aspire to contest assembly elections could submit their duly filled up application forms  in the Party Office from July 5 to 20, 2014.He  said that the party has received overwhelming response during the district level workers meeting as 2.14 lakh workers have so far been registered as against the target of 2 lakh. He said that the support and cooperation of people clearly reflects that Congress would form the government in the State for the third consecutive term.
