Ch. Ranbir Singh Varsity to start with eight courses

CHANDIGARH, JULY 25
 Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda  today announced that eight courses would be started in  Ch. Ranbir Singh University, Jind from current academic session. These included MBA, MCA, MCA (lateral entry), MA English, MA Psychology, Master of Physical Education, Bachelor of Physical Education and MA Education.
         Mr. Hooda was addressing the gathering after laying the foundation  stone of Choudhry Ranbir Singh University, Jind at Jind today.
While congratulating the people on this occasion, the Chief Minister  said that he had also directed to immediately release funds worth Rs. 50 crore for the development of university. There is no dearth of funds  for spreading the light of education, he said adding that government would release additional funds as and when required for progress of  this university. 
Mr. Hooda said that development is being taken place in the  entire world and Haryana is also witnessing rapid progress during last  about nine years. But in this race of development, only those
 states or nations would remain in the forefront that would lead in education sector. He urged the people to lay emphasis on education of their wards only then the state could lead in all spheres in real terms.
        He said that after taking over the reign of administration nine years  ago with the support of people; he started his journey with a vision  to make the state an education hub. He claimed that universities and  institutes which are coming in the state have clearly reflected that  Haryana would become Education Hub of international standard in coming   four to five years. This would lead to progress of our future generation. The  aim of setting up these educational institutes would become reality when our future generation attains qualitative education as per the world standards, he added.
         Mr. Hooda said that the university has been named after Ch. Ranbir Singh   not because he was his father but as he is proud of the fact that Ch. Ranbir Singh had completed his graduation about 70 years back, however he chose to serve the nation by joining freedom struggle rather than serve the British government. He was sent behind bars eight times and was the last person released from jail by Britishers. The project of Bhakhra dam was initiated with the signature of Ch. Chotu Ram but its construction work was completed during Ch. Ranbir Singh tenure as Minister.
        While leveling the allegation of bias on Jind by INLD-BJP government,  Mr. Hooda said that opposition ruled the state for about six years.  He said, “I  have no habit of criticizing anyone but we all are well aware about the  situation at that time”. The Chief Minister said that present government had incurred a sum of over Rs. 3103.61 crore on overall development of district Jind whereas INLD-BJP had spent merely Rs.625.25 crore during their regime.  This development  is still continuing and would accelerate in future, he added.
        Mr. Hooda also highlighted various schemes and programmes being  implemented in the state for benefit of all including farmers, students, senior  citizens, scheduled castes and poor. He said that recently state  government has abolished INLD government decision as per which stamp  duty was charged for transfer of property within family members. “We  are providing electricity at the rate of 10 paisa per unit to farmers  and  same is Rs.1.30 per unit in neighbouring state of Rajasthan and
 Rs.3.71 per unit in Madhya Pradesh”.  Similarly, diesel price is Rs.  five higher in Rajasthan as compared to Haryana. The States of Gujarat  and Madhya Pradesh are charging Rs. eight and Rs. Nine more for diesel  prices, he added.
        Speaking on this occasion,  Education Minister Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal said that all B.Ed colleges of the state would be affiliated with Ch. Ranbir Singh University and it would work for ensuring quality education. The University would also work to provide quality teacher training. While thanking the Chief
 Minister she said that such unprecedented progress in education  sector has never been seen before as have been witnessed in the leadership  of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
        Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala said that  it is an important day for the people as this University would prove a  milestone for the local student as well state students. He said that number of universities has increased to about 40 which were five in year 2005. He hoped that the University would emerge as a best institute of higher learning in the  days to come.
HPCC President Dr. Ashok Tanwar congratulated the people and said that this university would prove beneficial for our coming generation.
        Vice Chancellor of Ch. Ranbir Singh University, Lt.Gen (Retd.) Dr.  Ranjit Singh and Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. D.D.S. Sandhu also spoke on this occasion.
         The present on this occasion included Political Advisor to Chief  Minister Prof Virender Singh, MLA Dharam Singh Chokhar, former MLAs  Bachan Singh Arya, IG Sher Singh and Bhag Singh Chatar and other  leaders and prominent people.
        Later, Chief Minister Mr Hooda also laid the foundation stone  of Regional Centre of Bhagat Phool Singh Woman University, Khanpur  Kalan at Kanya Gurukul, Kharal in district Jind.
