CMGGAs initiative gets good response

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 21
The innovative programme of Haryana Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates (CMGGAs) has received tremendous response as applications have been received from 25 States and Union Territories in the country.
          While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that a 2-week orientation programme would be conducted from July 1,2016 under the CMGGA programme. The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal would regularly interact with the CMGGAs.
          Many of the applicants have graduated from 15 different foreign Universities and Institutes like London Business School and London School of Economics, Oxford University, University of Liverpool, University of Michigan and Duke University.
          He said that about 50 applicants are from 10 premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) including those at Kharagpur, Delhi, Kanpur, Roorkee and Bombay. About 20 applicants are from 15 premier Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) including those at Ahmadabad, Bangalore and Calcutta. He said that about 100 applicants are from top ranking universities and institutes, both public and private, of India like Banaras Hindu University, Delhi University, Ashoka University, Amity University and Azim Premji University and PGIMER, Chandigarh.
          A good number of applications have also been received from various universities and institutes of Haryana including Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar. He said that apart from this, applicants from several National Institutes of Technology have also applied for the programme.
          He said that 25 per cent of the applicants are female. About 70 per cent of the total applicants are post-graduates and 65 per cent are of less than 27 years of age. About 70 per cent applicants have one or more years of experience.
COMMERCIALIZATION OF EDUCATION: While taking a serious note of commercialization of education by some schools, Haryana Education Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma, said that strict action would be taken against such schools.
        The Minister, who was in Panipat today, said that it had been brought to his notice that some schools were selling books, stationery and uniforms to the students within their premises. He said that a probe would be conducted into this matter.
        He said that a high-level meeting of the Department has been convened on Friday in which significant decisions would be taken.
BS SANDHU APPOINTED: The  Haryana Government has appointed B. S. Sandhu, Managing Director, Haryana Police Housing Corporation as Chairman and Managing Director, Haryana Police Housing Corporation with immediate effect.
DATE LINE EXTENDED: The Haryana Government has extended the last date for submission of application for the post of State Chief Information Commissioner in the State Information Commission till May 23, 2016, up to 5 p.m.
