Haryan to launch LEP in all primary schools

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 26
The Haryana Government has decided to launch ‘Learning Enhancement Programme’ (LEP) in all primary schools within   next three months   to improve the learning outcomes of students in about 9,000 primary schools across the State. Apart from this, moral education would also be introduced as a part of the curriculum in the schools.
        This was informed during the 43rd meeting of the Executive Committee of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Mr. D.S. Dhesi, here today.
        During the meeting, the Chief Secretary issued orders to get a survey conducted to identify the reasons for students dropping out of schools.
        It was informed in the meeting that dedicated Academic Cells would be established in Directorate of Elementary Education and Directorate of Secondary Education for implementation and monitoring of all academic initiatives. The AMS mobile application would also be launched state-wide for all officers to enhance usability and usage of the Academic Monitoring System (AMS).
          Additional Chief Secretary, School Education, Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora, said that for the academic session 2016-17, the curriculum of primary classes has been modified and the textbooks have been improved. She said that moral education has been included in the curriculum of Classes VI to VIII and the textbooks of this subject would be delivered to the schools by April 30. Similarly, work is underway on the textbooks of moral education for Classes IX and X, she added.
        She said that according to the latest National Achievements Survey (NAS) conducted by NCERT, Haryana is one of the three states which have shown an improvement in learning outcomes of the students. The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has appreciated the good work done by Haryana under its Quality Improvement Programme, she added.
          She said that 96 per cent of the students of primary schools in the State have been linked with Aadhaar and the teachers are also being linked with Aadhaar.
          Those present in the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Sunil Gulati and Additional Chief Secretary, Women and Child Development, Mrs. Dheera Khandelwal and other senior officers.
