Vij to inaugurate on Rotavirus Vaccine

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 6
 Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij will inaugurate the campaign on Rotavirus Vaccine, Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) and third phase of Mission Indradhanush on April 11 in Ambala. During this campaign, about 5.50 lakh children of the State would be immunized.
          While giving this information here today, a spokesman of Health Department said that rotavirus infection could cause severe diarrhea in children. In order to control this virus, the Central Government has decided to include Rotavirus Vaccine in a phased manner in Universal Immunisation Programme in the country. In its first phase, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Haryana  would be covered. The children would be given three doses of this vaccine.
          He said that Mr Anil Vij would also launch Inactivated Polio Vaccine to eradicate polio. Along with the doses of polio, this vaccine would be given as injection to children, which would provide them double safety against polio. The market price of this injection is over Rs 1,000, but the State Government would provide it free of cost, he added.
          The spokesman said that the Health Minister would also launch the third phase of Mission Indradhanush, under which children would be immunized against Diphtheria, Polio, Tuberculosis, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis B, Haemophilus Influenzae Type B, Tetanus and Measles.
