Improvement in sex ratio in Karnal district

Chandigarh, March 22
 The sex ratio in district Karnal of Haryana has improved to 902 females per 1000 males by February, 2013, during this year.
          This was stated by Deputy Commissioner, Karnal, Ms. Renu S. Phulia while addressing the villagers and representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions at village Jamba today.
          Today was the concluding day of Save the Girl Child awareness campaign started in the district under the leadership of Ms. Phulia. On the concluding day of this campaign, an initiative was taken by the panchayats under which cash prize of Rs 21000 would be given away to any person who would give information about female foeticide. An  incentive of Rs 1100 would also be given by the panchayats of the villages falling under the block to every family where a girl child would be born.
