by Haryananewswire
CHANDIGARH, MARCH 26
Kurukshetra has become the first district in the country to launch the Village Integrated Monitoring Software (VIMS) thus bringing transparency to development works being undertaken at village level from their beginning  to completion with just a click of button.
VIMS has been developed by District Informatics Centre and with the help of this software, the complete record of any village of district Kurukshetra, block and that of District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO) Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO), Sub Divisional Officer (SDO), Junior Engineer (JE) and Gram Sachiv could be viewed. Apart from this, this software would ensure transparency in the development works and utilization of funds, proper implementation of projects and their timely completion. Moreover, it would also help in easy evaluation of responsibility and accountability from Junior Engineer to BDPO level, he added.
According to the new policy of the State Government, though the funds for development works were being directly transferred in the accounts of Panchayats yet it was not being timely evaluated as how and when the funds were utilized. To bridge this gap, this software would play a significant role, he added.
This software would not only minimize the paper work but also the BDPO and bank officers would get complete picture of block and village wise schemes with just a click of button. A unique code has been allotted for each work. Through this code, the officer of each block could see the status of works.
This software was a unique step of district administration towards ensuring transparency in the Panchayti Raj system. With the help of this software, the utilization certificate, inspection certificate and report of completion certificate could be seen anytime. He said that through this software, DDPO, BDPO and officers at Deputy Commissioner level could  see the progress report of any village and could also fix the responsibility of concerned officers accordingly.
Deputy Commissioner Kurukshetra, Mr. Mandip Singh Brar launched the software in Kurukshetra today.
